Components of Tractor operated Transit Mixer
Tractor operated Transit Mixer or Mini Concrete Transit Mixer is a construction equipment used at construction projects for agitation & transportation of mixed concrete from Concrete Batching Plants to construction sites. This mini concrete transit mixer is operated & driven with Tractor as a prime power source. Power Transmission shaft of tractor produces the required torque to rotate the drum mixer unit.
Different Components of a Tractor operated Transit Mixer
A) Chassis :A heavy structural chassis frame is provided to mount the mixer drum. Axle with wheels are fitted with chassis for movement of Transit mixer. A hook is provided at front end of the chassis for easy towing with Tractor.
B) Drum Mixer : Revolving Drum Mixer unit, mounted on a wheel fitted chassis, fabricated with continuous double spiral blades welded thoroughly inside the vessel. The direction of these spiral blades are exactly opposite to each other. These blades provides smooth intake & discharge of mixed concrete at construction sites. Drum Mixer is fabricated with Mild Steel plates having high tensile strength.
C) Drum Roller : Mixer Drum is mounted on two identical high grade carbon alloyed rollers for providing smooth rotation to the drum mixer. Rollers provides alignment & firm support to the drum mixer. Drum rollers are fitted with high quality bearings.
D) Power Drive Assembly : Power to the mixer unit is driven by the tractor through a coupling shaft. Power transmission shaft act as a prime rotating source in Tractor Transit mixers which provides torque to the mixer unit for rotations.
E) Gear Box Assembly : A heavy duty gear box assembly is provided along with the coupler shaft in order to control the rotations of transmission shaft & provide required rotation to the drum mixer. Gear box assembly serves the purpose of changing the rotations of drum mixer for intake & discharge of mixed concrete. A lever is provided for shifting the rotations of Drum Mixer, Clockwise & anti-clockwise.
F) Water Tank : A tank is mounted at the top of mixer unit for addition of water in to the mixed concrete, if required. This tank is used as storage of water for Cleaning purpose of Mixer Drum.
G) Discharge Chute : U-shaped chute is provided with Tractor Transit mixer. This discharge chute prevents the concrete from segregation of material at the time of discharge of mixed concrete from transit mixer. These discharge chutes can swing in 180 degrees for pouring concrete at required position.
H) Axle & Wheels : Four wheels are fitted with heavy duty single axle connected to the chassis with plates. Pair of wheels on each side of axle provide better stability to the transit mixer while carrying concrete.
FAQ's:
Q : What is a Transit mixer?
A : Transit Mixer is a construction equipment used to carry or transport mixed concrete from concrete production unit to concrete dumping sites. This is used mainly to prevent the water losses from mixed concrete while transporting concrete.
Q : What is Tractor operated Concrete Transit Mixer?
A : Tractor operated Concrete Transit Mixer is simple equipment driven & operated with Tractor, as prime power source, used to transport mixed concrete from concrete batching plants to construction sites.
Q : What is the difference between Truck Transit Mixer &Tractor Transit Mixer?
A : Truck Transit Mixers are having mixer unit mounted on a Truck chassis & having a large concrete carrying capacity of 6cuM. Truck Transit Mixers can approach longer distance while carrying mixed concrete. Whereas, Tractor Transit Mixer is a separate assembly towed & operated with Tractor. Tractor is used as a power source for driving & operations of Transit Mixer. Tractor Transit Mixers are available in 4cuM concrete carrying capacity. Tractor Transit Mixers are compact in size so it is very convinient to approach consgested sites as well. Tractor Transit Mixers are having very less operational cost & very less maintenance.
